Drape me 02:56
Drape Me © Glenn Nuotio Drape me with any old thing just in case a little modesty decides to show up after all just in case it looks like I’m enjoying this holding myself up on this old chair after all you’re the one who called me in here and my skin might start wanting something more than just a quick inspection and I’m the one instead playing dead besides a list of questions what if I pulled this sheet down from your head and told you to take your time, just listen to my breath? drape me with any old thing just in case in a week you have to come back without even my asking like another set of tests they only hand you with a hush you may not get through this round but I can’t pass it up ‘cause each shot’s worth the rush and you pressed on pushing past that victory mark on your face and the promise you were clear and we hate you disappeared like that mark each time you blushed and you left us never so happy pressed for nothing but a little more time because I’ve grown so tired of charts being all I’m told to read besides, by now there’s nothing more about me I want you to see so cover it up for now at the very least admit it’s on your mind for too long don’t be the kind who prays for your own diseases so cover them up for now , at the very least let me rest my head across your knees and find any old thing please to drape me.

PSYCHOLOGY SHOWERS (c) Glenn Nuotio I’d be such a rich man if I knew why impulses came at a certain age, but you got to learn about them after school and he’s far too young to even pretend he’s my son It’s not my place to discourage him we can leave that up to you but it’ll crush him like the grapes that made this sunny glass of wine if we call up California and spill it to his father. Sometimes it’s the only part of your day that’s going fine and you learn to get over a simple waste of water. He’ll have plenty of time to hate us both again like any young man does, but just for a while. He’ll have plenty of time to try and hate it all again just like any young man will, but just for a while. Oh, we can bitch about our best friends like we used to do for hours, Or cry of how the weather’s been pure hell on the flowers, but the cheap carafes are running low as the conversation cowers away from the finer points of psychology and showers And curious things keep happening to me but I’m not that far removed enough to talk about it personally and all you can say is “hey, he’s keeping it clean” and that’s fine. He’ll have plenty of time to hate us both again like any young man does, but just for a while. He’ll have plenty of time to try and hate it all again just like any young man will, but just for a while.

Proud Michaels (c) writeen by Glenn Nuotio I won’t get through The Wreckage or This All Happened it's always someone else; no Big Why on my shelf. I should really be reading instead of celebrating each Fancy Pants party that I won’t go to, but Thanks for the invite! Boys , doing us proud aging so well with words make me an offer that I can’t put down. Oh, to be around just locals (for a change) and oh , to be around just friends tearing off our shirts and trading them around laughing though our livers hurt or until the stories end. I’ll have to finish this later But for now, I’m so sorry, Alligator, I guess the distractions of sex, Down to the Dirt, and That Time of the Night Chip Vendors pretend we all get off in the end. I forget if I ever got things right, but but Thanks for the invite! Boys , doing us proud aging so well with words I'll drop these names in a crowd, aging so well with words make me an offer than I can’t put down.

CRAZY IN BILOXI © Glenn Nuotio 2010 We’ve got all night with just these bright stars to guide us or we could stay in all day and dry our eyes and pray Thank God (I don’t care who hears me say it out loud, I’ll say it again) Thank God I wasn’t born this way Thank God I’ll never have to be this crazy in Biloxi To fend for myself in goddamn Mississippi waiting for days for a sudden flood of armies they say they’re coming forth to carry me they say they’re coming forth to carry me far far away from my home Sure, their guns can keep me safe if I do what they say I might still end up dumped like a corpse in a pitch black Superdome but swing low, I don’t see anything in my way sweetest of all, I’m a Northern boy pale as the moon above and all these stars in the bright sky above us warning us to stay away wipe your morning eyes and pray Thank God (we’re getting by on more than natural selection) Thank God (it’s been years since I’ve had to use protection) Thank God Thank God Thank God I wasn’t born this way and I’ll never have to be this crazy in Biloxi

BAYSTREET FIRE ESCAPES © Glenn Nuotio Blue lights circle round keep boys down low scale Bay Street fire escapes keep our business away from the pros your girl waits somewhere anyhow and we won’t be clear until I hit the coast you know you know If you know your wish might turn up in some wedding guest with no gift or a red-faced ride home replacing old faces you never let rest your cold ankles hold up your bunched up Sunday best oh I swear keep your head down you can see the whole town from here We’ve got time to run Before the blame falls flat on those who started this off shoulders shrugged keep it under you hat stories in our bed headlines in our wake we know these by heart but we’ll never know just what it takes to make you go so your wishes turn up in some wedding guest with no gift or a wasted ride home replacing old faces you never let rest your cold ankles hold up your bunched up Sunday Best oh I swear keep your head down oh I swear keep your head down you can see the whole town from here
